Sky Blue Lupine

21 Mar

The Sky Blue Lupine is a beautiful flower that grows in sandy dry areas of Florida. I noticed this clump while driving along a county road. The road runs along a border of a local park, so I promptly turned in and took a walk along the trail. About 50 different clumps of  plants were coming into full bloom. I took a photo showing the road in the background so you can see just how close these are  along the roadside. Luckily the park is adjacent so this Lupine community is preserved.

We live on the Lake Wales Ridge and I have 2 groupings of the blue lupine on the acreage we own behind our house. Used to be way more when I was young. I love the way the bloom begins.

Lucky you to have them out your back door! They are one of my favorite flowers.
