Lanceleaf Rattlebox

24 Aug

I found this plant growing along a trail in a preserve near Dunnellon. I had never seen it before & had to look it up. Turns out it is not a native plant, but it was growing well, as most exotics seem to do!

Similar to other rattlebox plants, with tall spikes of yellow flowers and seed pods that “rattle” when dry. The leaves on this plant are slender and grass-like.
