Blue Toadflax

8 Jun

We had a cold wet winter this past year, which made for a brilliant spring show of Toadflax. As a Florida native, I’ve always noticed a few of these little purple flowers in the spring, but this year the flowers were amazing – the pastures were just carpets of lavender. This lone white flower popped out amongst all the purple.

The Blue Toadflax is also a host plant for the Buckeye butterfly.

I’m not seeing too many of these around now. They all went into hiding as the sun came out stronger.
