Is Somebody making Popcorn?

15 May

This is a Milkvine that is a threatened species in Florida (ANGULARFRUIT MILKVINE), although in my yard it grows like a weed. I let it grow through the azaleas and salvias and even have a little trellis for another. It is also a host plant for the Giant Milkweed bug, which is another bug only  found in Florida, and since this is about the only plant it feeds on – may be threatened too? My favorite thing about this little vine is that when you touch the new growth it leaves your hand smelling exactly like freshly popped corn! It smells good enough to eat, but I’m sure the plant is poisonous!
